Morgen gehen die Fantastic Four in den amerikanischen Kinos in die dritte Runde und auf metacritic sind die ersten Kritiken zum Fantastic Four Reboot aufgeschlagen. Alle Fantastic Four Fans sollen an dieser Stelle gewarnt sein, denn die Kritiken sind alles andere als rosig.
Die beiden Vorgänger haben im Vergleich zu anderen Superhelden und Comic Verfilmungen schon recht bescheiden abgeschnitten und konnten mit einem Metascore von 40/100 für Fantastic Four und 45/100 für Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer wenig überzeugen.
Das Reboot unter der Regie von Josh Trank (Chronicle) sollte alles anders machen und die Fans wieder für das Franchise begeistern. Der Schuss ist, wenn es nach den amerikanischen Kritikern geht, völlig nach hinten losgegangen. Fantastic Four erreicht derzeit einen Metascore von 29/100 Punkten und kann mit keiner einzigen positiven Kritik überzeugen. Dem Film wird dabei ein sehr guter Cast attestiert, der aber völlig am Drehbuch und dem Storytelling scheitert. Lest selbst was die amerikanischen Kritiker sagen. In Deutschland startet Fantastic Four am 14.08.2015 in den Kinos.

In turning his back on the familiar tropes of blockbuster comic book movies, Trank doesn’t have a clear new identity for Fantastic Four to distinguish itself with, and the result is a movie rich with possibilities, but trapped in the basic structure of a superhero movie, with no idea of how to wholly circumvent traditional expectations.
Fantastic Four is so bereft of all the things we expect from a superhero movie — humor, excitement, adventure, awe — that it plays like a drawn-out pilot episode for an upcoming TV series no one would ever watch again.
